The joy of giving

Is there any human that does not ask for more?
I know all children like to ask for more and more. Can you believe my kidDOS also like to have more and more stuff? Yes, it was time for parent intervention. And we created a plan of action. As a family we embarked into a pursuit of character development. The plan of action was a campaign focusing on the needs of others and on ways we can be a blessing to those around us. With the goal to reflect on how blessed we are and also on how to use all of our blessings.

Starting last summers we schedule regular activities to serve those who have more need than us. Here is a collection of some of the ideas in our plan.
1. Deliver meals to the home bound.  Look at this post Creating Meaningful Family Experiences
2. Prepare meals for the families of sick children in the hospital who are staying at the Ronald McDonald House.
3. Create boxes for children around the world. We had so much fun with this experience, that we did a second round of 5 more boxes. Look at this post Thi's the Season of Giving
4. Cook meals for friends with new babies.
5. Bag's of Grace that we put together along with some friends. This zip-lock bags full of many useful items we give away to the homeless in our community as we drive in the city.
6. Bring Christmas gifts to families in need.
7. For Christmas day, every person in our family only got one gift. But, also every member had to give one gift. The focus was on giving as much on receiving. It was an awesome experience. The kidDOS are still very proud of the gifts they gave.
I would love to hear your ideas to increase the joy of giving in children.
Smiles,
