Creating Meaningful Family Serving Experiences

Summer is such a great time to create memorable family experiences.

Our summer schedule looks completely different from the rest of the year. It seems we tend to do activities we regularly do not have time to do. One of our goals was to develop an aptitude in all of us for serving others. With that goal in mind, I scheduled some community serving activities. One per month. Our first experience this summer was with Meals on Wheels. t was a great start.
Meals on wheels provide meals for home-bound people. Most of the people served by this organization are elderly that still live by themselves, but are unable to prepare or provide food for themselves. The children were able to participate very good in this activity.  It gave us the opportunity to think and help some people that needs our help.
Now our kiddos refer to the older people that we visited sometimes when thinking about help or sick or poor or even when talking about food. :)   ... I will say that children are funny, but they really understand the concept of serving and helping.
The July activity is a visit to a Nursing home. The August activity is to cook a meal at the Ronald McDonald House, located next to the Children's Hospital here in town.
Here some link that can help you as you consider serving others with your family:
