Suitable Helper

The historical account of the Bible, starting with Genesis.

It has been  just wonderful to learn step-by-step about God's creation. We have discussed how God created everything by the command of His voice. We have marveled together more and more at who God is, and what a wonderful world He has made.

We spent several weeks learning what God created on each of the six days of creation. After talking about God creating the animals of the earth, I asked the kidDOS, "How do you think God made Man?" They immediately responded: "By His voice",  (They were paying attention...)
I had a delightful surprise as I went on to retell the story of Adam and Eve and how they were created different than everything else in creation. I explained to the kidDOS that God created man in God's image, that He formed man from the dust of the ground and He breathed into his nostril life. (Man was not created with God's voice).
I continued the historical account by explaining that later He put the man to sleep and took a rib from him, and from that God made the woman. The kidDOS were so intrigued and pleased. The look on their eyes was one of fascination.

I also explained that God made Adam to be the leader in the family (Gen, 3:16) and that He called the woman a "Suitable Helper" (Gen. 2:18). The joy was indescribable. Both of them loved their God given role.

Later that afternoon as the kidDOS retold the story to daddy, Princesa was so proud to announce that the woman was the suitable helper. She was so happy! I think that knowing that God created her with a special role in life has given her an eagerness for helping and serving others.

What is your favorite part from the history of creation?
