Retelling Historical Accounts

"Historical Accounts" is a new term being used in our home. In our efforts to help our kidDOS differentiate between reality and fiction, this terminology is now frequently employed.

These days I have been reading 2 different books that talk about the importance of storytelling. What a joy to have the opportunity to share with our children the true history about the people of God throughout the generations; and also to share the historical accounts of our own personal experiences in our walk with God.
The first book I have been reading is Family Driven Faith, which has a chapter on "Teaching the Bible at Home". The second book is Spiritual Parenting, with a chapter on "Storytelling".
In our journey of sharing the true historical accounts we have discovered a second fun way to do it. When we traveled to Mexico we tried listening to audiobooks as a family, and we all enjoyed listening to stories together. Since then I have been getting more audiobooks from the library. We have now transferred this to listening to the Bible.

These are the two versions of audio materials from the Bible that we have and enjoy: Children's Stories and The New Testament on CDs.

Below are some of our favorite classical historical accounts that we look forward to introduce to our kidDOS in the future.

What are some of your favorite historical accounts that tell the story of our loving God?
