We love summer, but this year our summer has been quite long. We have had about 80 days of three-digit temperatures, and the forecast is that they are coming back again. We are learning new ways to appreciate our sunny days, and take advantage of them. We tried 3 easy science projects for a day full with "SOL" (sun). Come and join us in the adventure... :)
As we learned about the sun we prepared tea and hotdogs in the sun for lunch, and created a sun-craft with sun-melted crayons. What a sunny day!!

Here our supplies on our backyard table. |

Supplies for the sun-craft: yellow and orange construction paper, and a paper plate. |

A collection of all of our broken crayons. |
We melted some of the broken crayons for our sun-craft. Again, I am surprised how long the kidDOS can stay on a project that helps them develop a new skill. We took off all the paper wrappings of the crayons for about 30 minutes. We used yellow, orange and a bit of red to melt and smudge in the center of the paper plates.

Peeling crayons for about 30 minutes. :) |
We folded the yellow and orange construction paper in 6 pieces. We drew their hands and cut hand-shaped pieces of paper.

Alternating colors we glued the hand shaped pieces of paper around the paper plate. |

We talked about the difference in temperature, color, and texture after the sun had touched our three venues. |

They had so much fun eating their hotdogs. YUM!! |

TE, POR FAVOR! (Tea, please) |

Our final creation, and our book about the sun. |
What a fun day of learning and experimenting. Hope you enjoyed the pics and the ideas. :)
How do you like to cook your hotdogs?
