Colegio Hispano Ingles
KidDOS started their new adventure. First time to attend a traditional school setting, in a new country in a new language. And they are doing great!
Their first day of classes was January 8th. (The day after epiphany is always a holiday, so the kids cam enjoy their gifts.) And we all went to meet their new teacher, called Tutor, classroom, and classmates. We decided both kidDOS will be in the same class, so same friends and same teachers. There are three 4th garde classes at the school, and each class has about 30 students.
They have truly enjoyed all these days at school. Every day they come back with new stories to share. Some new things they are learning are French and the Spanish way to perform division.
Their extracurricular activities are on Tuesday and Thursday. Those two days they stay to eat at school as well. Principe is doing soccer and Princesa is doing School Ecological Garden.
School schedule looks like these:
School Starts: 8:30 am
Lunch break: 1:00 pm - students can go home or can stay to eat and have extracurriculars. KidDOS go home on Mon., Wed., and Fri.
Back from lunch break: 3:30 pm
End of school day: 5:30 pm
There has been a lot of stories about cultural differences. They way people express themselves, moves their hands, uses different voice tones, games children play, etc. Papito and I continue to hear funny comments about "The French teacher" and how expressive she is, about curious interactions when the kidDOS try to share how we perform division in America, and about their memories of the lunch room ladies that carry knives in their aprons to cut into pieces the food of children at their request.
Fun days of learning.
Vale,
