Getting to the dream

Traveling it’s exciting

The expectation of getting to new places and experiencing new adventures is fascinating. However, trips across the ocean are long. We spent about 18 hours from New York to Tenerife. We had a delay of five hours at the Madrid airport waiting for our second flight.  The kiddos did great and we stayed awake most of the morning there, but when we got to our second flight, 3 1/2 hour from Madrid to Tenerife, it felt like a very long trip. We all collapsed in the plane.
Our dear friend arrived to pick us up at the airport. Papito managed to put all the suitcases in her car and leave space for all of us. Remember that this is Europe, and cars are pretty small. We had a pleasant 45 minutes ride from the south of the island to the north, where we are leaving now. The weather was perfect and the view clear. In the south we could see the island of Gomera in the distance and arriving to the north we could see the island of Grand Canaria (below).
The owner of our apartment was ready to shows us the place and introduce us to all the different ways of doing things, like doing laundry, using the dishwasher, where the storage spaces are, etc. What a blessing it’s to arrive to the place where we will spend these 4 1/2 months. The apartment is located of the Irineo Gonzalez Plaza (below)
The place that we rented is spacious, well illuminated, and in a very beautiful area of the city. The name of our street is "Jesus Nazareno" (Jesus of Nazareth). I didn’t realize that all around our place is a pedestrian zone. So, the car noises are minimal. We can freely walk the old cobble stone streets.
I also want to mention that this place was our 5th offer. We had made 2 offers to rent in our pre-visit trip. We made other two offers in November, before leaving the USA, and this was our last offer. Trying to rent a place big enough for a family, in this area of the city, and for only 4.5 months was a big challenge. I believe God provided us the perfect place.

Vale (my new Spanish greeting),
