October Challenge

Homeschool Day?

Being at home for school can be challenging. We are all the time together, and we do all things as a team. Our team consists of 3 for most of the time (since Papito is at work). So, when 2 members of my team decide the work of school is not attractive any longer, we have a real challenge.
This past year we started school in July because it was so hot. We did not want to go out at all. By September the kidDOS decided they were done. We were completing only half of the daily assignments for school. So our principal, Papito, decided it was time to start the October Challenge.
The student that finished all the assignments of the day would get a sticker. The student that gathered 25 stickers by the end of the month would get a prize. The prize stayed on display as a background of our school room. The kidDOS were constantly reminding each other of their prizes.
Both kidDOS accomplished their goal. Both were thrilled to be able to get their prizes. I was so happy how well it worked. Papito was glad he was able to make such a huge difference in our daily experience at home.
Later, we used just the memory of how rewarding it was to do a good job at school. We reminded them how they are able to do all their work every day. It was worth the investment in the prizes and the effort to create the "October challenge".
Happy homeschooling!
Smiles,
