Have your kids ever asked for a puppy?
The kidDOS were very convinced they wanted to have a dog. As Papito and I discussed the commitment needed to be able to adopt a pet in our home at this point, we realized it was not possible. We joked about the possibility of “renting” a dog for a week or so, just so the kidDOS get to try having a dog.
Well, we had a great opportunity to "Host a dog" when Gramma had to go on a trip for 10 days. What a blessing that we can help her by taking care of Sparky. The kidDOS had a great time feeding, walking, playing and visiting with Sparky. This time provided the opportunity for them to experience what it means to own a pet, without us having to make a long term commitment.
What a wonderful experience.
