Barcelona

In the beginning of February Papito had a conference in Valencia. So we took the opportunity to go to Barcelona before getting to Valencia.

We had an amazing time. I will say the highlight of our time in Barcelona was going to the soccer game at Camp Nou to watch Barça play against Valencia.
We had a lot of challenges getting to the game. Papito bought tickets online, the game was scheduled on Sunday afternoon. Our plane tickets were for Saturday arriving in Barcelona mid afternoon. We were told that the games times normally change. But we never imagine that the day of the game could change as well. The week before we left the game was changed to Saturday night. For several days we debated between selling the tickets or trying to make it to the game. But in the end everything worked out well. We were able to arrive to our apartment leave our suitcases, take a taxi to the stadium, buy some sandwiches, and get to our seats right before the game started.
It was amazing to be there with about 100,000 other people. When the game ended everyone walked together through the streets. We had a full day of fun.

Barcelona is a very active and beautiful city with many elaborate buildings all around. There is a lot of places to visit. In this occasion we only were able to visit 2 special places apart from the visit to the stadium.
Park in Güell is a beautiful place where we spent half a day. We visited the house of Goudí which explained to us a lot about who he was as a person, architect and designer. I’m so glad we stopped there first because it brought sense into the other places we visited.
The Monumental Natural Garden is another beautiful site within Park Güell. Princesa took the role of Tour Guide and we all had fun as we followed her lead. This was also totally worth visiting. Fun for kids and interesting for adults.
When we made it to the church La Sagrada Família we were a bit tired. We decided not to enter, but just contemplate all her beauty from the outside. It’s truly an incredible construction. The details and the creative are impressive.
These were happy days of experiencing new places.
Vale,
