Summer is such a treat. Times flies and we get to do so many things that we do not get to enjoy during our regular school year schedule.

Our extended family
This summer we had the opportunity to go to Mexico and visit family. The kidDOS really enjoyed the time in the city of the mountains, Monterrey, where abuelitos live.

Chipinque is a natural park on the hillside of the mountains.
Cousins, uncles and aunts that we do not see very often are now regular words in our day to day conversation since our trip to Mexico.

Cousins: M age 4, F age 3, and kidDOS age 3
Papito and I got to enjoy the visit of friends that we have not seen in a while. That was a special treat for both of us!

Friends from college.

A friend from elementary school and her son.
We also had the visit of bizabuela (great-grandmother). She is 94 years old now. It was great to take a pic with the 4 generations.  :)

Bizabuelita, Tia, Abuelita and us.
Two very special activities that we did were to visit an orphanage, called Casa Hogar, and we also visited a church plant that one of my cousins and her family started this past year. We got to share some words of encouragement with them and enjoyed a meal together. Below are some pictures of the church plant visit. No pics from the orphanage since it is against the law to take pictures of the children.

As a multicultural family we live in 3 worlds, Mami's Mexico experience, Papito's Massachusetts experience, and the kidDOS bi-cultural experience. Sometimes it seems challenging maintaining all realities alive, as well as keeping up with both languages. But it surely is a gift that I would not change for anything.
Thank you Jesus for family, love and friends.
